2019 Dodgeball World Cup Qualifying Events to be Distributed Worldwide by Protocol Sports Marketing

Protocol Sports Marketing Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has been appointed the worldwide media and commercial rights agency for the 2019 World Cup Qualifying Events, on behalf of the World Dodgeball Association (WDA).

The World Cup Qualifying Events, which are held across four different continents over the course of the year, feature 60 national teams and are the international qualifiers for the 2020 Dodgeball World Cup.

The inaugural Dodgeball World Cup was held in Manchester, United Kingdom in 2016, whilst New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden hosted the second edition of the tournament in 2018.

Breaking new ground for the sport, the 2018 Dodgeball World Cup was televised live on the ESPN platform in America, a deal which was engineered by Protocol Sports. The company will now further expand the WDA’s broadcast and commercial footprint internationally, beginning with the Continental Championships in 2019.

Details of the four 2019 World Cup Qualifying Events are as follows:

  • America’s Cup – May 25, 2019 in Hamilton, Canada

  • European Championships – July 25, 2019 in Newcastle, United Kingdom

  • Africa Cup of Nations – August 9, 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa

  • Asia Championships – October 19, 2019 in Hong Kong

The top nations to emerge from the four Continental Championships – in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Categories – will compete at the 2020 Dodgeball World Cup.

The World Dodgeball Association President Tom Hickson is excited to see the positive momentum of the 2018 Dodgeball World Cup carry over to the 2019 World Cup Qualifying Events. “It was a momentous benchmark for our sport to have received live coverage of the 2018 Dodgeball World Cup on the ESPN platform in America,” said Hickson. “We look forward to many more major international broadcasters and streaming platforms featuring our growing sport in 2019 and beyond.”
