BoxRec & Protocol Sports Enter Pact to Deliver Advanced Boxing Stats to TV

Boxing’s Official Record Keeper & Boxing’s Leading Marketing Agency Join Forces

Protocol Sports Marketing is delighted to announce that it has entered into an exclusive arrangement with BoxRec, the Boxing industry’s official record keeper, to jointly create and market a suite of statistical services and products that will provide meaningful Boxing insight and analysis, designed for license to broadcasters, media and producers of professional championship Boxing. Inaugurated in May 2000, with a database of some 20,000 bouts, BoxRec.com has grown by leaps and bounds with a million Boxing bouts in its records by 2005, and as of July 2020, over 2.2 million professional fights. The company’s worldwide editors scour magazines, record books, scrapbooks and newspaper microfilm, attending Boxing shows and maintaining contact with Boxing commissions throughout the world to continually insert old-time and newly-fought bouts into the database every day. BoxRec is the indisputable worldwide resource for hardcore and casual Boxing fans, and indeed the entire Boxing industry at large.

The newly-signed pact with Protocol Sports is on brand for both companies. As the leading Boxing media rights distributor worldwide, Protocol Sports has over a decade’s worth of experience understanding the production needs of Boxing producers, broadcasters and streaming platforms. Just as other sports have embraced the use of advanced statistics to paint a more comprehensive picture for their audiences, so too will broadcasters and streaming platforms of Boxing soon integrate advanced analytics and ratings into their live broadcasts – powered by BoxRec.

With traditional media being disrupted by more and more forces with each passing day, the timing could not be better for this first collaboration between Protocol and BoxRec, says Protocol Sports Marketing President Lowell Conn.

“Within BoxRec’s treasure trove of historical and contemporary Boxing records is data that showcase trends, provide context and can help predict future results. We strongly believe that broadcasters and streaming platforms that unlock these analytics will provide a vastly enhanced viewer experience,” says Conn. “Boxing is ready for a statistics revolution, and we are glad to be collaborating with BoxRec to lead the charge.

BoxRec founder John Sheppard says, “Our mission is to serve and promote the sport of Boxing with integrity and we believe that working with Protocol Sports will help us to further achieve this. We envision better fan engagement through better information.”
